Shoulder Pain in Alwar

What Alwar patients should know

Alwar sees two shoulder patterns: younger patients whose shoulder dislocated in sport, gym training or a road accident and now keeps slipping out, and older patients with cuff tears. A shoulder that has dislocated more than once rarely stabilises by itself; with OPDs on the 2nd and 4th Thursday and Jaipur three hours away, stabilisation surgery can be planned without long gaps.

Patients come from Bhiwadi, Behror, Tijara, Rajgarh, Kishangarh Bas and across Alwar district

150 km to Jaipur for surgery · approx. 3 hours by road

When to get shoulder pain checked

  • Night pain when lying on the affected shoulder
  • Weakness lifting or reaching overhead
  • A shoulder that has dislocated more than once
  • Stiffness that keeps getting worse over months
  • Unable to lift the arm after a fall

Emergency: A shoulder that has just dislocated, or a deformed shoulder after a fall, needs the nearest hospital straight away for X-ray and reduction.

Common Causes

What usually causes shoulder pain

Shoulder pain is one of the most frequently misdiagnosed orthopedic problems. Much of what is labelled frozen shoulder turns out to be a rotator cuff tear, and the two are treated very differently: a frozen shoulder usually recovers, while a cuff tear does not heal on its own and can enlarge. A careful examination, sometimes with an ultrasound or MRI, separates them.

1

Rotator cuff tear or tendinopathy

Pain on lifting the arm, night pain when lying on that side, and weakness reaching overhead. Can follow a fall or develop from years of overhead work.

2

Frozen shoulder

Gradually increasing pain and stiffness in all directions. Much more common in people with diabetes or thyroid problems. Usually recovers, but slowly.

3

Recurrent dislocation and instability

A shoulder that has come out once is likely to keep slipping out, especially in younger people. Each episode can damage the joint further.

4

Shoulder arthritis

Grinding, deep aching pain and loss of movement in older patients, or after an old fracture. Advanced cases may need shoulder replacement.

5

Impingement and bursitis

Pain in an arc as the arm is raised, often from overuse. Usually settles with physiotherapy and activity change.

Treatment

How shoulder pain is treated

Step 1

Treatment without surgery

Tried first, and enough for most patients.

  • Targeted physiotherapy: different exercises for a frozen shoulder and a cuff problem
  • An injection in selected cases of frozen shoulder or bursitis
  • Activity and work modification to reduce overhead strain
  • Diabetes control, which directly affects frozen shoulder recovery
  • Short courses of pain medicine to allow exercise

Step 2

When surgery is genuinely needed

Advised only when non-surgical treatment has been properly tried, or the problem will not heal without it.

If Surgery Is Advised

Consult locally, operate in Jaipur, follow up locally

Alwar is only about 150 km from Jaipur on NH-48, with frequent trains and buses, so surgery in Jaipur is an easy same-day journey, and the twice-monthly OPD covers consultation, pre-operative planning and follow-up locally.

1

Consult Dr. Agrawal at the Alwar OPD

Personal examination by Dr. Agrawal, review of your X-rays or MRI, and a clear written opinion on whether surgery is actually needed, at Chopra Orthopedic Hospital, every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month. No travel to Jaipur required for this step.

2

Surgery in Jaipur, by the same surgeon

If surgery is advised, Dr. Agrawal performs it himself in Jaipur at Narayana Hospital or Orthoklinik, Pratap Nagar. Admission, implant selection and insurance paperwork are arranged in advance so the trip is a single planned visit.

3

Follow-up back in Alwar

Post-operative review, suture removal, physiotherapy guidance and implant checks happen at the next Alwar OPD, so recovery does not mean repeated long-distance travel.

FAQ

Shoulder Pain in Alwar: common questions

Where can I get shoulder pain treated in Alwar?+

Dr. Hemendra Agrawal assesses shoulder pain at his Alwar OPD at Chopra Orthopedic Hospital, every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The consultation covers examination, review of your X-rays or MRI, and a written plan. If surgery is needed, it is performed in Jaipur at Narayana Hospital or Orthoklinik, 183/82, Rana Sanga Marg, Sector 18, Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302033.

My shoulder has dislocated twice while playing. Can this be treated through the Alwar OPD?+

Yes. Bring any X-rays from the dislocations to the Alwar OPD; an MRI will usually be advised to check the cartilage rim and bone of the socket. If stabilisation surgery is needed, it is performed arthroscopically in Jaipur and your follow-up can be done at the Alwar OPD.

Is it a frozen shoulder or a rotator cuff tear?+

In a frozen shoulder, movement is restricted in every direction, even when someone else tries to move the arm. In a cuff tear, the arm can usually be moved passively but you struggle to lift it yourself and it feels weak. An examination distinguishes them, and an ultrasound or MRI confirms a tear.

Will a rotator cuff tear heal on its own?+

A torn tendon does not reattach by itself, and tears can enlarge over time. Some small or degenerative tears in older patients do well with physiotherapy. Larger tears, and tears in active patients, are often better repaired before the muscle weakens, usually by keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery.

How long does a frozen shoulder take to get better?+

It typically improves over many months, sometimes longer, especially with diabetes. The right physiotherapy and sometimes an injection shorten the painful phase. Surgery is needed only for the minority that do not improve with proper treatment.

Do I need an appointment for shoulder pain at the Alwar OPD?+

Yes, it is strongly recommended. The Alwar OPD runs on fixed days each month and slots are limited. Call or WhatsApp +91 92106 96045 to book, and bring all X-rays, MRI reports and prescriptions related to your shoulder pain.
